Speedpixel Ventures was excited to return to HKUST Unicorn Day 2025, one of Hong Kong’s largest university‑led entrepreneurship conferences, after an inspiring experience at last year’s event. Hosted by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Unicorn Day brings together global investors, industry leaders, government representatives, and academia to turn research‑driven, deep tech ideas into real‑world impact—and the scale and energy of this year’s gathering reinforced why it remains a key fixture on our annual calendar.
HKUST’s continued momentum was evident. As of May 2025, the university has produced more than 1,800 active startups, including 10 unicorns and 17 successful exits within its ecosystem. At this year's conference, over 100 HKUST‑grown startups showcased their innovations and a selective number of startups across biomedical technology, robotics, AI, data processing, and sustainability pitched their solutions to investors with exceptional technical depth and commercial clarity. Furthermore, three major collaborations were announced—spanning healthcare, AI research and incubation—demonstrated how HKUST is systematically bridging academia, industry, and capital to accelerate global scale‑up opportunities.
All in all, for investors seeking for high-quality early stage deep tech startups, Unicorn Day has become a flagship gathering that one cannot miss.
